I understand the market logic of allowing saving in MS Word, WP and PDF.   Thats where most of the customers live.   And I'm sure you consider the open system people as market enemies.   But the fact is Open Office, that is the Star Office systems are aquiring customers faster that anybody.   And the longer you ignore them the more customers you ostracize.   I have used WP 7 through 11, and have thought about getting X3, but I found Star Writer very much to my likeing and it saves to everybodies file format.  Please think about what effect ignoring OO will have on your future market.  There  are already many people selling complementary products for use with OO.  Regards   EBS

Thank you for your comments.   We don't consider anyone "enemies" but more to your first point, try to guage market demand for various solutions so we can best meet our customer's needs.

In fact, we have a live beta of WordPerfect Office X3 being able to open and edit the newest Office Productivity formats - both Microsoft's OOXML and ODF - live on the web.  With the approval of OOXML earlier this week I have some thoughts on where productivity will go in the next few years, but that is probably better served in a blog.
